Jennie De Groot, 93, of Rock Valley, died Thursday, September 29, 1989 in the hospital in Rock Valley.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 2 at the First Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. Eric Fennema officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens in Sioux Center. Visitation was held at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mrs. De Grout, the former Jennie De Wit, was born Dec. 7, 1895 at Cauker City, Kan. She married Dick De Groot Feb. 4, 1920 at Rock Valley. They farmed near Ireton until Dick died Oct. 4, 1950. In 1951 Jennie moved to Rock Valley.

She was active in the Martha Circle of the First Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Don (Marie) Ver Hoeven of Inwood and Mrs. Pete (Priscilla) Lockhorst of Ireton; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bernice De Groot of Rock Valley; two brothers, Joe De Wit of Rock Valley and Henry De Wit of Inwood; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Kooima and Hattie De Wit, both of Rock Valley, 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
