MRS. SIMEON BRUNSKILL

Mrs. Simeon Brunskill, who had been a resident of this community for thirty seven years, passed away Monday morning [Nov. 11] at the home of her daughter in law, Mrs. John Brunskill, at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 15 days. She had been a sufferer from internal cancer and this was the cause of her death. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. J. Davies, pastor of the M. E. church, were held at the home Tuesday afternoon. The body was laid to rest in Grace Hill cemetery beside the grave of her husband, who passed away many years ago.

Ruth White was born at Rawmoor, Eng., Feb. 26, 1836. She came to the United States with her parents when ten years of age. They settled near LaFayette, Wis. In January, 1854, she was united in marriage to Simeon Brunskill. Ten children were born to this union, only two of whom -- Mecca of Redig, S.D. and Sam of Hawarden -- survive her. There are thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She also leaves three brothers, John R. White of Apple River, Wis., Thos. White of Ireton, James White of Hawarden, and one sister, Mrs. Ann Parkins[?] of Apple River, Wis.

Mr. and Mrs. Brunskill came from Wisconsin to LeMars in 1875, near which place they resided on a farm until 1881, when they moved onto a farm northeast of Hawarden in Eagle township. Her husband died in September 1893. She continued to make her home on the farm until last December when she came to Hawarden with her son John and family. Her son John died April 23, 1918, and her daughter-in-law has since cared for her and gave her every comfort that was possible. Although she suffered a great deal during her last illness, she never complained and proved a wonderful example of the virtue of patience. She was always cheerful and her presence in the home will be greatly missed.
