Pioneer Passes Away

Thos. Burke, a pioneer resident of Eden township, Lincoln county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. D. Jones, in Sioux City in Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the advanced age of 81 years. Mr. Burke came to the Big Sioux Valley and located six miles north of Hawarden nearly forty years ago and resided there for many years. The body was taken to Rock Valley where interment took place Sunday in the Catholic cemetery.

The remains of Thos. Burke, a former resident of this vicinity, were brought to Rock Valley Friday for burial. Mr. Burke lived on a farm eight miles southwest of Rock Valley for a number of years having moved to Sioux City about ten years ago. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. D. Jones of Sioux City who with her brother John Burke accompanied the remains to this place. The deceased was over eighty-one years old.
