Mrs. George Fowler, a resident of this community for more than forty years, passed away Friday, Sept. 17th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. R. McAninch, at the advanced age of 89 years. Funeral services were held Sunday at the M.E. Church, Rev. J. J. Davies preaching the funeral sermon. Interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery beside the grave of her husband, who passed away nearly four years ago.

Lucina/Lacina Jane Thompson was born at Theresa, Jefferson County, N.Y., in the year 1831, and moved to Wisconsin with her parents when a small child. In 1849 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Clark at Neenah, Wis. Two children were born to this union, J.D. Clark of Mattoon, Wis., and Julia Clark, deceased. Her husband died a few years after their marriage. On Sept. 1, 1860, she was united in marriage to George Fowler at Neenah, Wis. They resided there until 1879, when they moved to Sioux County and located on a farm near the present town of McNally. After remaining there several years they went to Seattle, but returned here a few years later and again took up farming in this vicinity. They retired from the farm twenty-one years ago and moved to Hawarden where she has since made her home. Seven children were born to this union, two of whom died in infancy. The surviving children are Hiram Fowler, of Antigo, Wis.; Frank Fowler of Faith, S.D.; Walter Fowler, of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. S. S. Fowles of Cherokee, Iowa; and Mrs. S. R. McAninch of this city.

The deceased was held in high regard by all who knew her. She was ever a kind neighbor, a dutiful wife and an affectionate and loving mother. She joined the Presbyterian church in early childhood and lived a consistent Christian life. Her passing takes another of the older residents of the community from us and she will be greatly missed by many besides those of the family who are left to mourn. Among the relatives from a distance who were present at the funeral were J. D. Clark of Mattoon, Wis.; Mrs. Hiram Fowler of Antigo, Wis., and Mr. & Mrs. Marcus Lillie of Sioux City.
