FINAL SERVICES HELD HERE FOR WILLIAM BURKE
Life Long Resident Of The Hudson Vicinity Dies From A Heart Attack

William Burke, 66, a life long resident of the Hudson vicinity and well known in Hawarden, died at his home last Tursday morning [Nov. 11] from a heart attack.

Mr. Burke had been up about 7 that morning, but had returned to his bed as he frequently did, due to his frail health. When Mrs. Burke called to him several hours later she received no response. Going to his room she discovered that he had passed away.

Four years ago Mr. Burke was seriously ill from heart trouble and was in the Hudson hospital about six weeks, but seemed much improved the past year.

Mr. Burke, son of William and Catherine Burke, was born on a farm four miles south of Hudson and spent his entire life on the place. His parents went to Hudson from Clinton in a covered wagon and homesteaded. He was the youngest of a family of ten children, all of whom except two sisters preceded him in death.

He married Anna Clifford in Hawarden in 1908 and to this union were born five children. Survivors are his widow; five children, Clifford and Jack of Hudson, Tom of Hawarden, Mrs. Dorothy Heitkamp of St. Charles, Ill., and Mrs. Beatrice Morris of Antigo, Wis.; two sisters, Mrs. M. C. Callan and Mrs. Minnie Johnson of Hawarden and six grandchildren.

Rosary was said in the home last Friday evening. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Mary's church in Hawarden with Rev. Fr. R. Graf officiating. Pall bearers were Roy and Dick Smith, Bill Robinson, Harold Johnson, Chas. Gourley and George Sawyer.

Out-of-town relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Heitkamp of St. Charles, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Roger Morris of Antigo, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Lantaff and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Zimmerman of LeMars, Mr. and Mrs. Schierholz of Hartley, Mrs. Helen Clifford and daughter and Wright Smitherst of Canton, Mrs. Isabelle Elliott and Mrs. Fred Webber of Sioux City, Mrs. Lloyd Gregorson of Council Bluffs, Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Callan of Fort Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Lantaff, Mr. and Mrs. F.
