Editorial by Warren Overlie, Sioux Center News, Sept. 17, 1986, p. 4:

People in Sioux Center were saddened to learn of the untimely death of Larry Visser, one of Sioux Center's prominent business and community leaders. Visser, who has been associated with Visser Brothers Elevator, was active in a number of important business and educational committees in town. He was an enthusiastic member of the Chamber of Commerce, and his involvement in many aspects of that organization was greatly appreciated. One of the important committees of the Chamber on which he served was the agriculture committee, and this committee has worked hard in past years to promote farm products and to find ways for Sioux Center to better understand the needs of farmers.

Visser put in long hours as a member of the Sioux Center Volunteer Fire Department and the rescue squad. He was also a veteran. There were many other ways, too, in which he helped make this town a better place in which to live.

We extend our sympathies to his family and many friends. He will be greatly missed.
