Verna Gayer, 75, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1993, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley, IA.

Verna Tverberg was born March 26, 1917 in Sioux County, IA. She was graduated from high school in Hudson.

She married Fred Gayer on Oct. 5, 1938 in Hudson. They farmed near Hawarden, IA, one year prior to farming southwest of Rock Valley. They retired and moved to Rock Valley in 1969. On June 15, 1991, they moved to Hudson.

Survivors include her husband, Fred; two sons, Howard of Alton, IA, and Lester of Inwood, IA; seven daughters: Mrs. Roger (Lorraine) Van't Hof of Orange City, IA; Mrs. Cornie (Ruth) Jansen and Mrs. Jeff (Rhonda) Haverhals, both of Hudson; Mrs. John (Janet) Renes of Rock Valley; Mrs. Paul (Lois) De Leeuw of Hull, IA; Mrs. Robin (Marlys) Etter of Alton and Mrs. Marlo (June) Voetberg of Marcus, IA; 31 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one brother, Darrell of Sioux Falls.

Services were held Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rock Valley, with burial in Valley View Cemetery.

Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley was in charge of arrangements.

Verna Gayer, 75, of Hudson died Tuesday, January 5, 1993, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley. Services were held Saturday, January 9, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Rock Valley, Rev. Jim Demke and Rev. Lyle Inglebret officiated. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley. Visitation was held at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mrs. Gayer was born March 26, 1917, in Sioux County, the daughter of Albert and Ruth (Henaman) Tverberg. She graduated from high school at Hudson. On October 5,1938, she married Fred Gayer at Hudson. The couple farmed near Hawarden one year before farming southwest of Rock Valley. They retired and moved to Rock Valley in 1969. They moved to Hudson June 15, 1991.
