George Cannegieter, 74, of Rock Valley, died Friday [July 29] at Rock Valley hospital. Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Pioneer United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. Burial was held in Valley View Cemetery under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home.

Mr. Cannegieter was born on March 8, 1909, in Neligh, Neb., and attended the Rock Valley Christian and public schools. He worked at the Roorda Machine Shop for 45 years until his retirement in 1981.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Glenda) Burgers, of Rock Valley; a brother, John, of Rock Rapids; a sister, Mrs. Emma Lems, Canton, S.D.; and three grandchildren.

He was married to Lois in Jackson, Minn., on Feb. 28, 1939, and they divorced in May 1962 (Sioux Center News, March 15 and May 24, 1962).
