Mrs. Lucy Zeilstra, age 90, of Orange City, passed away Friday, February 12, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 15, at the First Reformed Church, with the Rev. Cecil Martens and the Rev. Frank Snuttjer officiating. Interment followed at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, under the direction of the VanEtten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

Lucy was born August 15, 1897, in Bennekom, The Netherlands, the daughter of Jan Vander Pol and Janna Van Rotterdam Vander Pol.

On February [15], 1922, she married Tom Zeilstra at Bennekom. In April of 1922, they came to the United States, settling at Canton, South Dakota. They also farmed at Holland, Minnesota, and Worthing and Beresford, South Dakota. In March of 1955, they moved to an acreage by Orange City. In April of 1964, they retired into Orange City. Mr. Zeilstra passed away September 27, 1970, at Orange City.

In August of 1976, Mrs. Zeilstra became a resident of the Valley Manor in Rock Valley. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City.

Survivors include her five children, Mrs. Albertha Van Roekel of Colton, SD; John W., of Rothville, MO; Wilbur, of Fairview, SD.; Mrs. Gerrit (Jennie) Van Englenhoven, of Sioux Center; and Mrs. Wilbur (JoAnn) De Jong, of Orange City; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Jennie De Bondt, of Sioux Center, and Mrs. Willie Peek, of Gelderland, The Netherlands.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Luther, and a brother, Pete Vander Pol.
