Mrs. Robert L. Smith from Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Mary Zoeckler from Ottumwa, Ia., were visiting with their mother, Mrs. Mae Balkema last week when they received word of the death of their father, Raymond Peter Balkema at Burlington, Ia. Mr. Balkema lived in Sioux Center for several years. He was an Internal Revenue Service agent in Sioux City for 45 years. He was in the United States Military Service until after the end of World War II. Military rites were conducted for him in Burlington last Saturday, May 19th.
