Roland "Pete" Peterson, 85, Hawarden, died Dec. 27, 1989, in the Hawarden Community Hospital.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday in Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Porter-Dow funeral home in Hawarden.

Mr. Peterson was born June 18, 1904 near Worthington, Minn. He married Pearl Nelson, Dec. 12, 1924 in Sioux City. The couple farmed near Hawarden from 1927 to 1965 when they moved into Hawarden. Mrs. Peterson died May 25, 1973. Mr. Peterson was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden.

Survivors include a son, John and his wife, JoAnn of Orchard, Neb.; a son-in-law, Stanley Yates of Ireton; three daughters, Mrs. George (Mary) Rehder of Hawarden, Barbara Reed of Watertown, Minn., and Mrs. Floyd (Janet) Stewart of Hermitage, Term.; a sister, Esther Nelson of Redlands, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two sons, two daughters, a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
