Harvard J. Dorhout, 61, Of Hawarden died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1992, at a hospital in Canoga Park, Calif.
Services were held on Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden with Rev. Edmond Adams officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery, in Hawarden under direction of the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.
Mr. Dorhout was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Lebanon, Iowa, the son of Samuel and Mary (Rynders) Dorhout. He served for four years in U.S. Navy. He married Shirley Schwamm April 3, 1954. The couple lived in Paramount, Calif., until 1956, when they moved to Hawarden where they began Hawarden Machine and later acquired For-Most Inc. Mrs. Dorhout died Jan. 12, 1992. Mr. Dorhout was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Hawarden, the Hawarden Chamber of Commerce and served on the board of directors at First State Bank in Hawarden.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Brian and Brenda of Weatherford, Okla., and Michael and Syboney of Hawarden; two daughters and their husbands, Inez and Kelly Summy of Council Bluffs and Dana and Tim Woolworth of Grimes; eight brothers, two sisters, six grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a brother.
