Willa Jager, 86, of Hawarden died Tuesday, Oct. 6 1992, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Hudson, S.D.
Services were Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.
Mrs. Jager, the former Willa Richardson, was born Jan. 23, 1906, in Buffalo, Okla., the daughter of James and Mary (Carter) Richardson. At the age of 4, she moved with her parents to Missouri. At the age of 10, they moved to Ireton. She married Harry Jager Sept. 10, 1923, in Orange City. The couple made their home in Hawarden. He died Jan. 22, 1974. She had made her home at Colonial Manor the last three years.
Survivors include five sons and their wives, Harry Jr. "Bud" and Ann of Bremerton, Wash., James and Verna of Hazel Green, Ala., Gordon and Avis of Hawarden, Ronald and Margie of Rock Valley and Robert and Glenda of Hawarden; four daughters and their husbands, Geneva "Sis" and Ellis Tucker of Akron, Lois and Ken Plueger of Rock Valley, and Mary and Verle Marienau and Ruth and Harlan Benda, all of Hawarden; three sisters, Iva Howen of Williston, N.D., Nell Mullarky of Madison, Wis., and Mrs. Milo (Myrtle) Jurgenson of California; 26 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two, great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Ralph; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Don Vipond; three sisters; and four brothers.
