Gysbert Bomgaars passed away at the home of his sister, Mr. and Mrs. S. P. De Jong at Worthington, Minn., on February 20, at the age of 76 years. He died of heart trouble.

Mr. Bomgaars was custodian of the Academy, High School, and Pioneer Home at Orange City for many years. A year after the death of his wife, nee Jennie De Gooyer, he went to Worthington to make his home with his son.

Surviving are: a son, Clarence of Worthington, Minn.; a daughter, Elvina (Mrs. Henry Den Hartog) of Orange City; a foster son, Roy Vos of Slayton, Minn.; a brother, Will at Newkirk; two sisters, Mrs. Nella Ellerbroek of Holland, Mich. and Mrs. S. P. De Jong of Worthington, Minn. There are eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Worthington in the American Reformed Church, with Rev. C. Hoekstra officiating, assisted by Rev. Lillico of the Methodist Church. Interment was in the Newkirk Cemetery, where his wife, who died in 1939, is also buried. Rev. H. Colenbrander of Orange City, of whose church the deceased had been a member for many years, officiated at the cemetery.

A briefer obituary in the Alton Democrat (Feb. 28, 1946) says he died at 10 o'clock in the morning; gives his sister's name as Mrs. Sjoerd De Jong; and identifies Roy Vos as a nephew who stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Bomgaars for several years.
