N. M. BOMGAARS DIES

N. M. Bomgaars, an aged and respected citizen of this community for many years, died last Sunday evening [April 3] after a lingering illness of several months, the cause of his death being cancer.

Mr. Bomgaars had reached the age of 64 years. He had ever been a good and faithful husband and father and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, from the home and from the First Reformed church, in charge of the pastor, Rev. G. H. [surname illegible] and the remains were laid to rest in Hope Cemetery. An obituary is being prepared for our next issue.

The sincere sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved wife and children.

No obituary was located in the following week's issue of the Index (April 15). A Notice in Probate from that issue identifies him as Nicholas Bomgaars. The Sioux County death record (Transcript of Deaths, 1922-1940) identifies him as Nikolas Bomgaars, died in Hull April 3, 1927, age 64, nationality "American." The obituary of his wife, Margarite (Vander Wilt) Bomgaars gives additional family data (Sioux Center News, Aug. 3, 1933)
