Vera K. Squier, 75, of Hawarden, died Monday, June 8, 1992, at Colonial Manor nursing home in Hudson, S.D.
Services were Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Hawarden. Rev. George Henriksen officiated. Burialwas in Grace Hill cemetery at Hawarden, under direction of Porter-Dow funeral Home in Hawarden.
Mrs. Squier, the former Vera Heuer, was born Jan. 27, 1917, at Hawarden, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Richardson) Heuer. She graduated from Hawarden High School in 1935. She taught in rural school before her marriage to James M. Squier Dec. 1, 1941, in Hawarden. The couple farmed northeast of Hawarden. Mr. Squier died Aug. 22, 1984, and she moved into Hawarden in 1985. She moved to the nursing home in Hudson seven weeks ago. Mrs. Squier was an active member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the ladies aid.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Mark and Althea of Sioux City; a daughter, Mrs. L. A. (ClarAnne) Dixon, of Spirit Lake; a sister, Mrs. George (Donnie) Wood, of Hawarden; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Theodore, Bud and Art; and a sister, Helen Busch.
