Two young men, in the full strength of life, heads of families, have passed away. [there follows an obit for Henry K. Bekman] The second death is the passing away of Okko Peters, who died on his farm, northeast of town, on Friday evening [Dec. 24?] at the age of 33 years. He had a very short illness, which started with the grip [influenza, probably] but through complications undermined his life in a few days, so that death came suddenly. He was always a healthy and sturdy young man. Deceased was born August 22nd, 1882. In 1903 he was united in marriage to Miss Kate Ypma. Five children were born, the oldest, a girl of 10; the youngest one year old. His father Klaas Peters is living at Middleburg. He is survived by his wife, father, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Nic Vander Mey, Boyden; Mrs. J. Wielenga, of this town; Mrs. Dick Roos, Newkirk; Mrs. P. Sinkey, Ireton; Ben at Sheldon, Gerrit at Alton, Hermina, Tena and Jake, at the parental home. Funeral service was held in the Christian Reformed church Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock p.m. Both church services were overflowing with relatives and friends of these young men.
