Earl C. Madsen, 80, of Hawarden, died Monday, June 8, 1992 at the Hass Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden. He was formerly a resident at the Akron City Convalescent Care Center.

Services were held Friday at the United Methodist church in Hawarden. Rev. Paul Hansen officiated.

Burial was a Resthaven Memory Gardens cemetery in Le Mars.

EARL C. MADSEN

Earl C. Madsen, 80, of Hawarden, died Monday, June 8, 1992, at the Hass Hillcrest Care Center, Hawarden.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Hawarden, with Rev. Paul Hansen officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery in LeMars. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home at Hawarden.

Mr. Madsen was born April 24, 1912, at Humboldt, the son of Steffen and Mabel (Elmitt) Madsen. He married Alice Durr on May 27, 1935, at Pocahontas. Together they lived at Pocahontas and Palmer where he operated a grocery store. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart. Following the service, the couple lived in LeMars where Mr. Madsen was employed at several grocery stores. He also sold Watkins Products for many years until retiring to Hawarden in 1977.
