William "Bill" Kamstra, age 90, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon Iowa.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 4, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. Kevin Muyskens officiating.
Burial in East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

William "Bill" Kamstra was born on March 23, 1920, in Sioux Center, Iowa. He was the son of Peter and Tillie (Jouwstra) Kamstra. He lived his youth in the Sheldon, Iowa, area, where he attended the Sheldon Christian Grade School and graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Marie Den Beste of Archer, Iowa, on June 6, 1941, in Archer. They lived and farmed northwest of Sheldon before moving to Archer, Iowa, where they farmed for 15 years and then moved 7 miles northeast of Sheldon, where they lived and farmed for 15 years. In 1976, they moved to Sheldon and in 2002, they moved to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon.
Bill was a charter member of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, where he served in the Church Council. He previously was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, where he served in the Church Council and taught Catechism and Sunday School. He served on the Christian School Board, Christian Retirement Home Board and the Sheldon Elevator Board.
Bill and Marie enjoyed traveling. They wintered in Alamo, Texas, for 20 years, and enjoyed visiting relatives in California.
Bill enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing summer softball. He loved sports. He attended many basketball games at Western, Dordt and Sheldon. He, and his brother, Sye, went to many volleyball games together. He enjoyed being around young people and having a conversation with anyone.
His priority in life was his faith, family and farm. His life was lived as a testimony to his faith in God, through his words and actions.
The last 6 weeks of his life, Bill was blessed with the opportunity to live back home on the farm. He passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 69 years: Marie Kamstra of Sheldon, IA; his children: Tim and Barb Kamstra of Sheldon, IA, Theodore and Janice Kamstra of Sioux Falls, SD, Nancy and Robert Lawler of Sheldon, IA; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law: Eleanor Kamstra of Lantana, Fl, Arvilla Kamstra of Sheldon, IA; one brother-in-law: Harold Stevens of Irvine, CA.
He was preceded in death by his grandson: Theodore Robert Jr. Kamstra; 2 brothers: Peter Kamstra and Simon Kamstra; 2 sisters: Anna Vander Veen and Thelma Stevens.
