Della Boscaljon

Della Boscaljon, age 94 of Rock Rapids, IA died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Home in George, IA.

Memorial service will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 28th at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, IA with Pastor Katie Van Veldhuizen and Pastor Dan Haggar officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday August 28th from 2 PM until time of service with family present at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the donor’s favorite charity in the name of Della Boscaljon.
Della Boscaljon was born February, 23, 1916 in Rock Valley, IA to Harmen and Jacoba (Kuhl) Vande Weerd. She was raised and received her education in Rock Valley. On August 12, 1936 she was united in marriage to Arie Boscaljon in Rock Rapids, IA. The couple made their home on a farm northeast of Doon, IA where they lived until their retirement in 1967. Della and Arie then moved to Rock Rapids. Arie passed away in September of 1989 and Della remained in their home until September of 2009 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Home in George, IA. She worked for many years at the Merrill Pioneer Hospital as a house keeper. She was a long time member of the First Reformed Church in Doon and Rock Rapids, and enjoyed embroidery and gardening. She loved spending time with her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Della is survived by daughters, Helen (Henry) Boeve of Rock Rapids and Dorothy (Richard) Wollmuth of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; brothers, Fred Vande Weerd, Lockie Vande Weerd, and Tom Vander Weerd; and one sister, Mary Alice Brantzeg; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arie Boscaljon; grandson, Jim Boeve; three sisters and two brothers.
