Funeral at Hull for Gerrit J. Bomgaars

Funeral services were held Friday, December 16, for Gerrit J. Bomgaars. Rev. Wayne Lommen conducted the services at the American Reformed church in Hull.

Mr. Bomgaars was born December 8, 1895, in Orange City, and died in the Veterans hospital at Sioux Falls, S. Dak., following a coronary heart attack on December 12, 1955.

Mr. Bomgaars lived in Orange City from the time of his birth till 1918 when he entered the service of his Country. In 1919 he entered business in the Ford Garage in Hull. In 1938 he moved to California where he lived with his family till 1946. The family returned to Perkins where they operated a gas station till 1949 at which time he retired from active business.

Gerrit J. Bomgaars was married to Winifred Finn in 1919. To this union 4 children were born who with the wife survive: Joel, Clayton, and Warner all of California; and Verna, Mrs. Don Wallinga, of Matlock. Two brothers, John and Arie of Sioux Center also survive. A brother Marinus died in 1949.

Burial was in Hope cemetery, with Van Etten funeral home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were John Droog, Henry Hubregste, Henry Dahl, B. H. Beckman, Casey Heyman and Ryer Van Aken.
