Peter Dekkers, 77, of Hawarden died unexpectedly Friday, May 22, 1992,'after being stricken at home.

Services were Tuesday at the Christian Reformed Church in Hawarden. Rev. Marvin Vander Vliet officiated. Burial was in Lebanon (Iowa) Cemetery, under direction of Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mr. Dekkers was born July 18, 1914, in the Netherlands, son of Antonie and Wilmina (De Graff) Dekkers. He came to the United States in 1920. He married Grace Haverhals Feb. 27, 1941, in Hawarden. They farmed in Eagle Township until retiring to Hawarden in 1976.

He was a member of the Hawarden Christian Reformed church and taught Sunday school for over 40 years. He was a member of the Gideons and was involved in jail ministry. He was a member of the Hawarden Kiwanis club.

Survivors include his wife; five sons and their wives, all of Hawarden, Peter J. and Dianna, Wayne and Edie, Lloyd and Bonnie, Harold and Pam, and Bonnie, Harold and Pam and Verlyn and Karel; two daughters, Willy Dekkers and Mrs. Andy (Toni) Jansma, both of. Rock Valley; two ; brothers, Henry of Sioux Center and Joe of Hawarden; a sister, Mrs. Henry (Elizabeth) Bonnema of Sioux Center; and 22 grandchildren.

His birth says July 8, 1914. Has six sons: Peter J., Wayne, Lloyd, Harold, Verlyn and Karel, all of Hawarden.

Services were at 10:00 a.m. at the Christian Reformed Church.

Memorials may be sent in Mr. Dekkers name with the Gideons.
