Mrs. Julia Barnard Passes Away at Home of Her Daughter

Julia Curtis was born in the state of Vermont Sept. 27, 1825. She was married July 8, 1845 to Rev. Silas J. Barnard, a minister of the Christian church, whose death occurred in 1878. Six children were born to them, of whom three survive, Mrs. Lillian Kiehlow of New Rockford, N.D., Mrs. Nellie Irwin of Andrew, Iowa, Mrs. A. C. Mullen of Hawarden.

Mrs. Barnard became a Christian in early life, and united with the church of her choice, and through the more than fourscore years allotted to her lived a consistent life. After the death of her husband she made her home at Andrew, Iowa, until the past eighteen months during which time she lived in Hawarden at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. C. Mullen. She died after an illness of about a year on Sunday, Jan. 11, 1914 at the advanced age of 88 years 3 months and 14 days.

The funeral was held from the Mullen home Monday afternoon, Jan. 12, Rev. V. A. Weir, pastor of the Presbyterian church, conducting the service. The body was taken to Colo, Iowa, for interment beside the remains of her husband.
