Dan Gamble received a message Monday of the death of his brother, Joseph Gamble, at Long Beach, Calif. This was a severe shock because he had not known of any illness and when Dan left California last spring Joe seemed to be in good health. Dan had planned to auto to Toronto, S.D., with Mr. & Mrs. D. R. Stewart to help celebrate Mrs. Frank Noon's birthday when the sad message was handed to him.

Joseph Gamble was about 60 years old, was born at Hanover, Ill., and for many years was a resident of Ireton, and vicinity where he was engaged in business or farming. He has owned the farm now occupied by Bert DeBie, three miles south of Ireton. Joe had many friends here when he left for California where he has made his home the last years. He was honest and upright and a splendid citizen in every way. He leaves a widow, two sisters, Miss Gamble and Mrs. George Wright, both of Long Beach, Calif., and his brother, D. B. Gamble of Ireton. The funeral was held Wednesday and burial was made in Long Beach.
