A 77 year old retired farmer, Olaf Fossum, a bachelor who lived alone in a small frame house in Hudson, suffocated in a fire which destroyed the interior of his home early Tuesday.

The fire was discovered by a neighbor at about 2 A.M., firemen found Mr. Fossum's body near the kitchen door, indicating that he had tried to escape before being overcome. Origin of the fire was not immediately determined.

Mr. Fossum was born in Norway and came to the United States as a boy. He farmed in Lincoln County for a number of years before retiring to Hudson.

The only known survivor is a sister who lives in Carnes ? (end of paper is folded so cannot read the town).
