Another Obituary:

The sad news of the death of Reynold Klay spread quickly through the community when the report came that he had suddenly passed away at about 7:30 o'clock Monday evening.

Mr. Klay was apparently in his usual health all day Monday. He was seen downtown as late as six o'clock that afternoon and when the report of his death came a short time later it was a great shock to his many friends here who could hardly believe it was true, until it was confirmed by those who knew. Mr. Klay's death was due to uremic poisoning.

Soon after he had eaten his supper Monday he was taken sick with convulsions. Dr. Huizenga was called and did all that could be done, but the death summons came to relieve him.

Mr. Klay was a man who was prominent in business affairs of the town. He was instrumental in helping organize co-operative businesses here, such as the Framers Lumber Co., The Farmers Elevator Co., The Rock Valley Creamery Co. of which he was one of the directors for several years. He also recently took a prominent part in organizing the Community Oil Co. and was a member of the board of directors. He was also one of the directors of the State Bank of Rock Valley.

Mr. Klay was a public spirited man and was prominent in civic and educational affairs as well as in business enterprises. For several years he served on the town council and was a member of the school board here for several years. He was active and progressive in whatever line of work he undertook. He was a man who will be missed in this community.

Mr. Klay was born at Winkel, North Holland in the year 1864. At the age of 15 years, he came to this country, coming directly to Sioux County. He lived on a farm east of Rock Valley until about twelve years ago when he moved with his family into town where he has since resided.

Besides his wife, Mr. Klay leaves five children, two sons, John and Thomas, and three daughters, Dora, Nelly and Gertrude, all of whom are living in Rock Valley and vicinity. He also leaves a brother, Gerrit Klay, of Orange City and other relatives.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church in Rock Valley Wednesday afternoon. A large crowd was present to pay their last respects to the departed. Many beautiful floral offerings were in evidence of the high esteem in which he was held.
