Arnold A. Twedt, 89, Hawarden, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1992, at the Hass Hillcrest Nursing Home in Hawarden.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the American Lutheran Church in Hawarden. The Rev. Karla Kirkeby officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery directions of the Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.

Mr. Twedt was born Feb. 28, 1903 in Union County, S.D. near Alcester. He attended Cole rural school near Alcester. On Dec. 10, 1924, he married Mabel Erickson in Sioux Falls, S.D. The couple farmed for nine years and he was later employed as a truck driver for petroleum products, retiring in 1975.

Mr. Twedt was a charter member of the Hawarden American Lutheran church. He entered the nursing home in 1987.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel of Beresford; four sons, Merle and Glenn, both of Beresford, Russell of Goleta, Calif., and Douglas of Hawarden; two daughters, Fern Thormodsgaard of Alcester and Ardis Edman of Beresford; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; four brothers Milton and Ray, both of Beresford, and Noble and Bennie, both of Huxley, Iowa; and four sisters, Pearl Hovik, Violet Severson, and Doris Carlson, all of Huxley and Evelyn Thorson of Chandler, Ariz.
