DEATH CLAIMS CHAS. BARTON
PASSED AWAY WEDNESDAY EVENING AT HOME HERE
Was 54 Years Old and Lived in This City for Nearly 20 Years.--Funeral Will be Held Friday

Charles Barton, for nearly twenty years a resident of Hawarden, passed away at his home in the west part of town at 6:15 Wednesday evening following a lingering illness from bronchial trouble and complications. He had been in gradually failing health for the past two years and during the three weeks preceding his death failed rapidly.

Charles Barton was born in Newark, N.J., and was 54 years of age. He came to Hawarden nearly twenty years ago and for seventeen years was employed as a carpenter by Frank Jacobe & Sons. He was obliged to give up active work about two years ago owing to failing health and since that time he and Charles Wilson have maintained quarters in the small house at the west end of Ninth street. Mr. Barton was a good carpenter and a steady worker up until the time his health began to fail. He possessed a happy, care-free disposition and made and held many fast friends who will sincerely mourn his death. So far as his intimate friends are advised, he had no near relatives.

Funeral services will be held at the Barnard Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. The Fraternal Order of Eagles, of which he was a member, will have a part in the funeral service. Interment will be made in Grace Hill cemetery.
