Robert Johnson, 77, of Washington, D.C., died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1992 in the V.A. hospital.
Robert was born February 19, 1914 in Hawarden, to parents, Elmen and Minnie Johnson. He received his schooling and graduated from Hawarden high school.
Bob made military duty his career, enlisting in Army Air Corps in March, 1941. During World War II he was a crew member on a B25 bomber. He flew 40 combat missions as a radio/gunner on B25's. In 1949, he went to England on a "Group Training Mission" and later qualified for Pentagon duty in Washington and Directorate of Intelligence. He returned in 1962 with a total of some 20 years -- nine of these overseas in various countries. He returned to Hawarden where he resided. In October of 1983 he entered the Soldiers and Airmen Retirement Home in Washington, D.C.
Funeral and burial with full military honors, were held January 30 in Arlington National cemetery in Washington, D.C. Attending the services were his nephews Michael Klauer of Pittsburg, Lt. Comdr. Robert P. Klauer of Port Hueneme, Calif., and Tim Klauer of Redondo Beach, Calif.
Survivors are his sister, Mrs. James Klauer of Akron, the three nephews and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lucille Burr and Frances Johnson.
