Everette James Franken, 81, of Redlands, California, died Wednesday, May 2, at St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino, California. Services were Monday, May 7, at Redlands Christian Reformed Church.

Franken was born May 21, 1919, in Sioux Center. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he began working at Gair's men's clothing store in Redlands in 1946. With two others, he bought Gair's in the mid 1960s and continued with the store until 1987. He was also a photographer in Redlands for many years, doing weddings, protraits and school pictures. He was a 60-year resident of Redlands.

He was a member of Redlands Christian Reformed Church and the Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include his wife, Dollie Franken of Redlands; two daughters, Rene Nigg of Hemet and Arlene Kopinga of Arcadia; two sons, Arlie Franken of Escondido and Richard Franken of Redlands; two brothers, Henry Franken and Joe Franken, both of Sioux Center; a sister, Lucille Wierda of Sioux Center; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
