William J. "Bill" Boomgaarden, 59, of Hawarden, died Friday, March 13, 1992, at the Sioux Center hospital.
Services were Monday at Trinity Lutheran church, Hawarden. Rev. Loren Vogler officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery, by Porter-Dow Funeral home in Hawarden.
Mr. Boomgaarden was born Nov.. 5, 1932, in Holland, Minn., son of William and Susan (Lamfers) Boomgaarden. He married Dorothy Meyer April 11, 1953, at Akron, Iowa. He worked as a farmer and maintenance man in Sioux City,
Hawarden and Illinois. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church. He was a longtime member, of the Hawarden Saddle club and president of the West Sioux Saddle club.
Survivors include his former wifeMDorothy, of Hawarden; two sons, Marty of Hawarden and Mark of Le Mars; three daughters, Mrs. Darrell (Madona) Plueger of Sioux Falls, S.D., Michele Boomgaarden of Hawarden and Midge Boomgaarden of New York, N.Y.; two brothers, Benjamin of Vermillion, S.D., and Ralph of Pipestone, Minn.; two sisters, Amanda Rysdam of Braham, Minn., and Mrs. Harry (Anje) Giffrow of Stanchfield, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Zebu- Ian and Jacob, Kelly and Katie Boomgaarden, Aren and Chad Plueger and Zachari and Jacoba Wilde, and a special friend and partner, Grace Potts of Hawarden.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Jacob and Effie Mae.
