Elizabeth Hattie Franken, 75, of Sioux Center died Monday, May 17, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 20, at Free Grace Reformed Church in Middleburg with the Rev. Stephen Breen officiating. Burial was in the Middleburg Cemetery.

Mrs. Franken was born June 29, 1923, in Hull to John and Maggie (Brummel) Vis. She went to school through the eighth grade in Hull. She married Gerrit H. Franken November 28, 1947, in Hull. The couple lived in rural Sioux Center. She worked at the Community Hospital and at the Hy-Vee Pharmacy, both in Sioux Center.

She was a member of Free Grace Reformed Church in Middleburg, serving in many various church organizations. Her greatest joy was in spending time with her family. She loved playing the organ and piano, crocheting, crafts, traveling, fishing, gardening, doing things with her husband, entertaining her children and taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years; three sons and their wives, Willard and Vicki, Kenneth and Vickie and Gerry and Julie, all of Sioux Center; two daughters and their husbands, Gloria and Leon Te Grotenhuis of Sioux Center and Diane and Dennis Burns of Ireton; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Johanna Schreur of Hull and Albertha and Rich Visser of Hudsonville, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Peter, Henry Albert and Willard (infant); one sister, Kathleen; and a grandson, Caleb Gerrit (infant).
