RITES 1:30 HERE FRIDAY FOR MRS. GERRIT FRANKEN

Funeral services will be held at the First Reformed church here at 1:30 p.m. Friday for Mrs. Gerrit H. Franken, Sr., 72, a life-long resident of this area and a resident of Sioux Center since 1947, who died at the Sioux Center Community hospital Tuesday [Aug. 20] following a lingering illness.

Services will be conducted by the Rev. Henry Brower and burial will be made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of the Co-operative Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Mrs. Franken, nee Gertrude Bosch, was born at Orange City February 23, 1891, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dries Bosch of Steen, Minn.

She was married to Gerrit H. Franken at Steen on February 26, 1914, and the couple farmed in the vicinity of Middleburg until retiring from farming and moving into Sioux Center in 1947. She was a member of the Free Grace Reformed church at Middleburg for many years and was a member of the First Reformed church of Sioux Center at the time of her demise.

Survivors include her widower, seven sons and three daughters, Everett, Gerrit and Louise (Mrs. Jack Oliver) of Sioux Center, Dries of Norwalk, Cal., Arnold of Artesia, Cal., Grace (Mrs. Bernard Van Batavia) and Howard of Luverne, Minn., Louis and Kathleen (Mrs. Wilmer Altena) of Rock Valley and Irwin of Orange City.

Other survivors include six brothers and three sisters, Gerrit, Henry, John and Dick Bosch of Steen, Minn., Ed Rosch [i.e., Bosch] of Bellflower, Cal., and Joe Bosch of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Carrie Elbers of Steen, Mrs. John Jongerius of Bellflower and Anne of Sioux Center; 44 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
