Peter J. Van Veldhuizen, 78, of Rock Valley, formerly of Inwood, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1991, at the Hegg Memorial hospital in Rock Valley.

Services were Saturday at the First Reformed church of Inwood. Rev. John Hostettler officiated. Burial was in Richland cemetery, Inwood, under director of Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Mr. Van Veldhuizen was born June 11, 1913, in Hanford, Calif., the son of Gerrit and Adrianna (Van Egdom) Van Veldhuizen. He married Henrietta Otten Nov. 10, 1938, in Canton, S.D. The couple farmed near Canton and Larchwood until retiring and moving to rural Inwood in 1972. They moved to the Rock Rapids Care Center in December 1982. She died March 28, 1983. He moved to Rock Valley in 1983 and the Valley Manor nursing home in 1988. Mr. Van Veldhuizen was a member of the First Reformed church in Inwood.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Gerrit and Irene of Inwood and Donald and Gwen of Larchwood; three daughters, Mrs. Albert M. (Gloria) Van Seek of Inwood, Mrs. Junior (Arlene) Van Beek of Hartley, Texas, and Doris Russ of Rock Valley; two sisters, Mrs. Dick (Elizabeth) Otten of Akron and Mrs. Jake (Gertrude) Kieft of Sioux Center; 25 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
