Dick Franken, 70, of Maurice, died Saturday [June 1] in a hospital in Sioux Center. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiated. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. Visitation was from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday in the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

Mr. Franken was born Oct. 30, 1914, in rural Maurice. He married Bertha Engeltjes March 6, 1936, in Sioux Center. The couple farmed in the Maurice area. He was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Art and Gerald, both of Maurice, and Dick Jr. of Orange City; two brothers, Alfred of Carmel and James of Sioux Center; two sisters, Mrs. Lewis (Hermina) Wynia and Mrs. Gerrit B. (Elizabeth) Van Mannen, both of Maurice, and nine grandchildren.
