RITES HELD FOR MRS. BARTLETT

Funeral services for Mrs. George R. Bartlett, 86, mother of Arthur Bartlett of Ireton and Miss Edythe Bartlett of Hawarden, were held at 2 o'clock Monday at the Methodist church in Ireton, Dr. G. S. Bruland officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ireton under the direction of the Barnard Funeral home.

Music was sung by a mixed quartet with Mrs. Hal Shoemaker at the organ. Casket bearers included Frank Bowden, George Rose, Marvin Grotenhuis, Ralph Jones, Elmer Vander Hamm and Richard Herwynen.

Mrs. Bartlett died Wednesday of last week [April 8] at a hospital in San Bernardino, Calif., following a long illness, just a few days after the mother of Mrs. Arthur Bartlett, Mrs. William Taylor, died. The latter was buried from the Methodist church in Ireton Tuesday of last week.

Mrs. Bartlett, a daughter of the last Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Vander Schaaf was born February 12, 1878 at Lollum, The Netherlands. With her parents she came to Sioux county in 1882. She married George R. Bartlett July 9, 1896. He died March 23, 1949. She was also preceded in death by a son, Frank in California, February 29, 1964.

Survivors include three sons, William of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Rueben [i.e., Reuben] of Laguan [i.e., Laguna] Beach, Calif., and Arthur of Ireton; three daughters, Mrs. W. L. (Ruth) Feuerstein and Mrs. H. V. (Dora) Ziln, both of San Bernardino, and Miss Edythe Bartlett of Hawarden; a sister, Mrs. Charles Vander Ploeg of Orange City; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
