Claire B. Barnum, 76, of Hawarden, died Friday, March 16, at the hospital in Hawarden. Services were Tuesday, March 20, at Porter-Dow Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harley Betzolt, of Hawarden's First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Barnum, the former Claire Bryson, was born August 3, 1913, at Hawarden, daughter of Joe and Emily Mae (Terrill) Bryson. She attended school there, and married William "Bud" Barnum October 9, 1933, at Yankton, SD. They lived in Hawarden. She was a member of the Hawarden Community Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, four sons, Rodney, Frank, Donald and his wife, Linda, and Darold, all of Hawarden; a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Ella Mae) Vande Pol, of Watertown, SD; four grandchildren, Donald J., Troy A. and his wife, Susan; Tammy L., and Jason R. Barnum; and several nieces and nephews.
