Hayes H. Barr, 83, of Akron, died Saturday, March 13 in a hospital at Hawarden after a long illness. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron. The Rev. Ken Lewis, of Big Springs Baptist Church, rural Alcester, S.D., officiated. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Barr was born Nov. 13, 1898, at Akron and was a lifelong area resident. He married Goldie Goodrich Jan. 27, 1924, at Elk Point, S.D. He worked as an interior and exterior decorator, retiring in 1965. He married Josie Doane March 6, 1964, at Elk Point. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Club.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Elmer De Jager of Akron, Mrs. Betty Jean Parks of Hawarden and Mrs. Frances Newman of Mountain Home, Ark.; one son, Robert E. of Knoxville; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
