Lloyd L. Abbott

Lloyd L. Abbott, 73, of Hawarden, died Wednesday, July 22, 1992, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services were Monday at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden with Rev. Paul Hansen officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery under direction of Porter-Dow funeral home in Hawarden.

Mr. Abbott was born April 1, 1919, in Hawarden, son of Guy and Jessie (Todd) Abbott. He married Ruby Anderson March 5, 1942, in South Sioux City. The couple made their home in Hawarden where he worked on WPA projects. He later operated a gas station for several years and worked in construction until his retirement in 1974. Mrs. Abbott died Sept. 30, 1987.

Survivors include two sons, James and his wife, Judy of Hawarden and Michael of Groton, Conn.; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Carol) Tilstra of Hawarden; a brother, George Abbott of Hawarden; two sisters, Lillian Blomberg of Akron and LaVeta Vandehoef of Garden Grove, Calif.; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Dennis; and two sisters, Margaret Westling and Jean Schaifle.
