William C. Reyelts
May 8, 1916 - January 27, 2010
Mr. William Reyelts, age 93, of Hull, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.
There will be a funeral service on Saturday, January 30, at 2:00pm, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Hull. The Rev. John Riggle will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Friday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.
Wilhelm Claus Fredrick Reyelts was born on May 8, 1916, in rural Trosky, Minnesota, the son of August and Frieda (Funck) Reyelts. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church at Trosky and also attended county school there. As a teenager, his family moved to a farm northeast of Hull, which eventually became a Century Farm.

On September 30, 1941, he married Hendricka Scholten in Worthington, Minnesota. They farmed at Hull, where she passed away on August 4, 1980. On November 30, 1985, he married Marian Anderson Van Dyk at Hull. They continued to live at Hull, where she passed away on February 15, 2009.

Bill was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served on the council as president, elder, trustee, and deacon. He was also a member of the education and cemetery committees. He had a strong faith throughout his life and was a prayer warrior and regular scripture reader.

In addition, he was a director of the Sheridan No. 4 rural school board.

In earlier years, he attended diesel mechanic school in Chicago, Illinois. He used those skills to repair farm machinery and restore his collection of tractors and antique gas engines. He enjoyed traveling to many areas, including Germany, Arizona, Virginia, and Indiana.

Survivors include five children, Donna (Joe) Gingras, of Rock Rapids; Glenda (Charles) Bryson, of Schleswig; Loren (Mary Ellen) Reyelts, of Hull; Lola Hindbjorgen, of Hendricks, Minnesota; and Marcia (Dennis) Orcutt, of Columbia City, Indiana; a son-in-law, Kenneth Stueven, of George; four step-children, Daryl Van Dyk and Loren Van Dyk, of Hull; Lloyd (Susan) Van Dyk, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Connie (Rigo) Mendez, of Boyden; sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Martha Zandstra, Arta Collins, and Arlyna Vande Griend.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Stueven; a son-in-law, Paul Hindbjorgen; a grandson, Darrel Stueven; and two sisters, Esther (Ewald) Georinger and Mildred (Alfred) Winter.
