From the Alton Democrat of March 25, 1893 Orange city news.
Last Saturday afternoon the funeral of the little son of Mr. and Mrs. K. DeJong took place at the First Reformed church. The church was filled with the many friends of the bereaved parents. The services were conducted by Rev. J. F. Zwemer, who delivered a beautiful sympathetic and consoling sermon. The parents have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad affliciton. The nature of the child's death, call especially for sympathy. The little one fell into a tub of biling water. His sufferings were intense. Though everything possible was done to alleviate them. All means failed and on Thurday afternoon, after two day of agony, death came to his relief.
(This was the son of Koenraad 1848-1921 and Pietertje VanZee 1851-1934 DeJong. Cemetery index lists Anthony A. died 16 Mar 1893 age 4 mo. 6 days (The Volksvriend lists the child as 4 yrs 6 days) son of K. and P. DeJong all buried in West Lawn Cemetery Orange City. )
