Fred "Fritz" Hillman

Fred "Fritz" Hillman, 86, of Hawarden, died Sunday, August 14, 1988, in a Sioux City hospital after a short illness.

Services were 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 1988 at the Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden. The Rev. Loren Vogler, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in Ireton.

Casket bearers were Jeff Krusen, Aaron Krusen, Brent Vellinga, Kim Weber, Ronni Newman and Jody Chandler.

Mr. Hillman was born June 24, 1902, in Ireton and was raised in the Ireton area. He farmed in the Ireton and Hawarden areas until moving into Hawarden in the early 1970s. He was employed at the Hawarden Golf Course for several years.

He is survived by two nieces, Betty J. Newman of Smithland, and Mary Vellinga of Marshalltown; and one nephew, Donald Hillman of Louisville, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary [Schlosser] Hillman; a brother, Walt; a sister, Sophie Krusen; and a nephew, Jack Krusen.
