Age: 93 years, 7 months, 9 days
Funeral Service: Monday; October 7, 1996; 11:00 am.

Alferd was the son of William and Minnie (Kleinhesselink) Van Meeveren. He was raised north of Alton. Upon reaching adulthood, he farmed north of Orange City.
On July 17, 1929, he married Nellie Vande Griend at Orange City. They continued to farm north of Orange City. In 1948, they moved into Orange City. "Al" retired from farming in 1965.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Ella Mae and Merle Van Klompenburg and Arlene and Jack Mouw, all of Orange City; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert and Arthur Van Meeveren, and two sisters, Jeanette Ver Hoeven, and Mathilda Harmelink.
