MUCH-BELOVED LADY PASSES ON -- MRS. JAMES C. LUSH EMBARKS ON THE GREAT ADVENTURE. Died Last Thursday Night at Local Hospital--Survived by Husband and Five Children.

Mrs. James C. Lush, one of the most highly respected women of this community, passed away about 11:45 o'clock last Thursday night [April 1] at the Hawarden hospital. Although she had been a patient at the hospital but a few days, the end was not unexpected and she was completely resigned to the inevitable and expressed her wishes to the members of her family regarding the arrangements for her funeral. She had been in failing health for some time and about ten days before her death she suffered an acute attack and was later brought to the hospital for treatment but it was found that she was much nearer the end of the way than had been suspected. She survived but a brief period and on the night of April 1st passed away from this life into the presence of her Lord and Master.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Episcopal church Monday afternoon with the pastor, the Rev. J. W. LaGrone, in charge. Burial was in the family lot in Grace Hill cemetery. The many beautiful floral offerings bespoke the high esteem in which Mrs. Lush was held by the friends of the family.

Anna B. Wallace was born at Neenah, Wis., April 11, 1867, so lacked but ten days of completing her 59th year. When a child of only 4 years she came with her parents in 1871 to Iowa and in 1887 they moved onto a farm in Union county, S.D. On March 13, 1894, she was united in marriage with James C. Lush at Canton, S.D. Four sons and two daughters were born to this union, one daughter, Florence, having died in infancy.

Mr. and Mrs. Lush lived in Lincoln county, S.D., until 1902 when they returned to this community and settled on a farm southeast of Hawarden where they have lived since in the midst of a large circle of friends. Here they have seen their children grow to mature manhood and womanhood and Mrs. Lush had the privilege of bestowing constantly the love of a devoted mother upon them. Her passing is mourned by her husband, James C. Lush, four sons, James W., Ralph C., Homer R. and Delmar O. Lush, and one daughter, Blanche L. Lush. She also leaves one brother, T. J. Wallace of Pasadena, Calif., two sisters, Mrs. F. A. Atwood of Sioux City and Mrs. J. G. Horner of Regent, N.D., besides a wide circle of friends and neighbors.

Mrs. Lush was ever a faithful and true mother, holding to the highest and noblest ideals and purposes for herself and family. During the period of the war she was fired with an intense patriotism and few women of the community were more active or rendered greater service in Red Cross work than did Mrs. Lush. She held the high esteem of all who came in contact with her and many outside the family circle will mourn her passing.
