OTTO H. BARTELS, 79,
DIES AT HAWARDEN

Funeral services for Otto H.
Bartels, 79, Hawarden, were at
2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran
church. Burial was in Hillside
cemetery at Edgerton,
Minn.

Mr. Bartels died at his home
Sunday. He was born Dec. 4,
1888, in Germany. In 1909, he
came to the United States, but
returned to Germany three
years later. In 1914, he and his
family came to the United
States and settled in the Hardwick
area.

Mr. Bartels married Martha
Scheel, Oct. 18, 1916, at Edgerton.
They farmed in Pipestone
and Rock counties until 1954
when they retired and moved to
Hardwick.

Survivors are his wife; a son,
Elmer of Jasper, Minn.; six
daughters, Mrs. John Brockberg
of Jasper, Mrs. Raymond
Brockberg of Fairmont, Minn.,
Mrs. Eugene Meyer of Pipestone,
Minn., Mrs. Clarence
Busch of Fulda, Minn., and
Mrs. Kenneth Busch and Mrs.
Elbert Jessen, both of Hardwick;
four sisters, Mrs. Rudolph
Rieck and Mrs. Bertha
Smidt, both of Pipestone, Mrs.
John Smidt of Trosky, Minn.,
and Mrs. Margaret Herman in
New Jersey; three brothers, Ernest
of Pipestone, William of
Edgerton and John in Germany;
10 grandchildren, and 4
great-grandchildren.
