ORANGE CITY, Iowa — Johanna Vegter, 82, of Orange City, died Thursday at Orange City Municipal Nursing Home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Ralph A. Pontier officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation is after 2 p.m. Sunday with family present from 2-3:30 p.m. at Van Etten-OOlman Funeral Home.
Mrs. Vegter, the former Johanna Gesink, was born Nov. 23, 1903, in Orange City. She married Nanning Vegter on Feb 18, 1932, in Orange City. They lived at Sheldon until about 1945 when they moved to a farm near Alton. They retired to Orange City in 1970. Mr. Vegter died Nov. 20, 1980, in Orange City. Mrs. Vector became a resident of Pleasant Acres at Hull in July of 1983 and in October of 1985 transferred to the Orange City Municipal Nursing Home.
She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and an associate member of Monica Society.
Survivors include one son, the Rev. Henry Vegter of Saluda, N.C.; three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Betty) Vander Pol of Pella, Mrs. Stanley (Irene) Huisman of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Dennis (Glenda) Tweet of Chandler, Minn.; two brothers, Gernt Gesink of AlamoSa, Cob., and William Gesink of Denver; two sisters, Mrs. Jake (Christena) Op’t Holt, and Mrs. George (Elizabeth) Miersma, both of Orange City; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
