EMIL LANGE DIES AFTER OPERATION

Emil Lange of Rock Valley, a former resident of Eagle and Garfield townships, passed away at the Sioux Valley hospital in Sioux Falls last Wednesday, March 1. Death followed an operation for a perforated ulcer. Funeral services were held Sunday at Peace Lutheran church in Garfield township with Rev. Hugo Beyer in charge.

Emil Lange was born in Holstein, Germany, on February 28, 1885. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church during his youth. He was united in marriage with Marie Behrman in Germany on April 16, 1911. Soon after his marriage he came to America, locating on a farm northeast of Hawarden in Eagle township. Three years later, he moved to Garfield township, where he lived until the spring of 1942, when he retired and moved to Rock Valley.

He is survived by his wife, four daughters and two sons, Mrs. Albert Rehder of Hawarden, Mrs. Veryl Benson, Carl Lange and Mrs. Woodrow Lohman of Rock Rapids, Mrs. Kenneth Brinkhous of Doon and Emil, Jr., of Rock Valley. He also leaves one brother, William Lange, who resides in Germany, and 13 grandchildren.

A similar obituary in the Sioux Center News, May 9, 1946, adds that his only nephew in this country, John Lange of Petaluma, Calif., was here for the funeral. Eleven brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
