Last Sunday night death entered an Orange City home and took away a loving wife and mother, Mrs. H. VanEngen. The deceased was born in Holland and was 29 years of age. She leaves a husband and four small children, the oldest child being but 6 years old. The funeral was conducted at the True Reformed church last Tuesday afternoon by Rev. E. Vande Berg. The Denocrat extends it heartfelt sympathy in this dark hour of affliction.
(This believed to be Mrs. Jan Hendrik VanEngen 1857-1920, married as Susanna Bouwers b. 12 Spe 1963 at Oosterhesselen Drenthe Neth. died at Orange City. Jan remarried in 1893 to Josephine Veenstra and had 10 additional children. Children of Jan H. and Susanna were Harm 1885-1950, Hendrik 1887-1941, Alice 1890, Peternella 1892-1962. Marriage record states she was married 15 May 1885 at Oosterhesselen Drenthe Neth, parents were Hendrik Bouwers and Susanna Keep.
