HEART ATTACK PROVES FATAL -- Bert Luchsinger, Railroad Man, Dies at Tracy
Brakeman on North Western Lived in Hawarden for Many Years; Was 64 Years Old

Bert Luchsinger of Huron, S.D., who for many years lived in Hawarden, died suddenly about 4:30 Wednesday morning [June 17] following a heart attack. Mr. Luchsinger had made his run as brakeman and baggageman between Huron and Tracy, Minn., as usual and was on his return trip when he was stricken. He suffered the attack just after the train had left Tracy at 4:15 and died 15 minutes later.

Funeral services will be held at the Luchsinger home at Huron Thursday afternoon and Friday the body will be shipped here. It will arrive at 12:30 over the North Western and funeral services will be held at 2:30 at the Methodist church with the Rev. R. F. Chapler in charge. Interment will be made in Grace Hill cemetery.

Albert Luchsinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Casper Luchsinger, was born at Jefferson, S.D., June 3, 1878, and so was 64 years of age at the time of his death. He came to Hawarden with his parents in 1890 and grew to young manhood in this city.

He was united in marriage with Adelia Baker in Hawarden in 1909. To this union were born three daughters, one of whom preceded him in death. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Miss Lois, who is [a] dietitian in St. Luke's hospital in Chicago, and Mrs. LaVon Winter of Rochester, Minn. He is also survived by two brothers and four sisters, Charles of Sioux City and John of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Donald Smith and Mrs. Howard Stevens of Sioux City, Mrs. T. D. Flint of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. J. D. Osborne, who resides in Canada.

Mr. Luchsinger started working for the North Western Railway company as a brakeman in 1907 and had run between Hawarden and Oakes, N.D. About 10 years ago the family moved to Huron, S.D., and he continued with his work as a railroad man, having a run between Huron and Tracy, Minn. He would have been eligible for the pension in another year. His sudden death comes as a shock to the members of his family and to his many friends here.
