Eugene Dokter
Eugene M. "Gene" Dokter, 50, of Alexandria, Minnesota, died at his home on June 16.
Memorial services were Tuesday, June 22, at United Methodist Church in Alexandria, with the Rev. Jeff Hansen officiating. Dokter was born October 25, 1959, in Sioux Center, the son of Henry and Irene (Dykstra) Dokter. He grew up in Sioux Center and attended Western Christian High School in Hull. Following his high school years he worked for Kooima Manufacturing in Rock Valley for more than 19 years. On June 2, 1990, he married Karen Hansen in Rock Valley, and in 1998 the couple moved to Alexandria, Minnesota. At that time, he began his employment with Lakeland Manufacturing where he had worked for the past 12 years.
He loved being a father and his two daughters were the joys of his life.
He also enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, traveling, and biking with his dogs.
Survivors are his wife of 20 years, Karen Dokter; daughters Anna and Aleah Dokter of Alexandria; father, Henry Dokter of Sioux Center; in-laws, Les and Sue Hansen of Dent, Minnesota; brothers, Doug (Romy) Dokter of Blame, Minnesota, Ken (Arliss) Dokter, Phil (Brenda) Dokter and Dennis (Joeli) Dokter, all of Sioux Center; sister Barb (Brian) Van Haaften of Alta; brother-in-law, Eric (Stacy) Hansen of Ankeny; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Dokter; and an infant brother.
